ANASTASIA USENKO “SELF-IDENTIFICATION”

30.06.2021 @ 6:00 pm - 30.07.2021 @ 7:00 pm

Project presentation. June 30th, Wednesday, 18:00.

The last project of the season 2020-2021 OPEN CALL.

Anastasia Usenko from Kyiv with the project “Self-Identification”.

Anastasia Usenko is a young Ukrainian artist, born in 1994. In her work, Anastasia boldly experiments with various types of art, from painting to graphics and engraving, often combining traditional artistic techniques with her own stylistic vision. She also loves to play with color, texture, and scale in her art. As a result, the artist creates paintings that combine realism and abstraction, the strange and the playful, the hidden and the open.

Anastasia allows viewers to fill each of her works with their own associations and memories, which makes her paintings even more exciting.

Particular attention is given to the depiction of women, who are usually naked. Anastasia considers clothes to be a sign of the times and belonging to a certain social class. For the artist, nudity symbolizes eternal beauty since naked bodies exist outside the framework of society.

With the works presented in this project, Anastasia conveys the state of constant excitement of a person. Her women seek to find a common language with the audience through the play of form, color, and scale. Massive, almost monumental figures in the light, a nude female body inscribed in abstract color backgrounds – in painting. In the engraving – laconic, monochrome, contrasting, sharply defined images of women, created by the decisive and expressive chisel of the author.
