Natalia Chichosova’s curatorial project “City Without a Purpose” is a special project from the Artsvit Gallery (Dnipro).
The works provided are from the Artsvit Gallery collection, by contemporary young Ukrainian artists who represent different senses of oneself and visions of the future. The medium of the exhibition is printed graphics — one of the most traditional techniques, which has long been not only a means of decorative design, but also developed a specific and laconic visual language.
Today, in the context of rethinking our identity and building a strategy for further development, recourse to the analysis of the influence of the Soviet phenomenon is extremely important. This situation encourages contemporary artists to address in their practices the topic of Soviet heritage and to fixate it in the urban landscape. Their works in effect become an indicator of changes in the consciousness of the new generation.
