THE CURATORIAL TRAINING

THE CURATORIAL TRAINING

Since 2015, Kharkiv Municipal Gallery has implemented an educational project — short term intensive training for young Ukrainian curators selected via an open call. Teachers are cultural figures from Ukraine, Germany, and Poland. The Curatorial Training provides an extensive educational program which includes a week-long workshop for students, visits to leading Kharkiv art institutions, studio visits, as well as 3 public lectures for the general public. The project is designed to fill the gaps in Ukrainian curatorial education and meet the needs of the development of Ukrainian contemporary art. Collaboration of young professionals with established specialists contributes to professional growth of a new generation of curators and critics, as well as popularization of contemporary art among a wider audience. That is why in addition to private lectures only for participants of the Curatorial Training, open lectures for the wide audience are held. The Curatorial Training contributes to the integration of Ukrainian contemporary art into the global context, development of the professional network and communication, and the emergence of new collaborative projects.
